Hey there gorgeous people!
I’d seen it on TV, I’d heard about it from friends but I didn’t realize how FANTASTIC Treasure Island Holiday Resort on the Gold Coast was until we snagged one of their HOT DEALS, Stay 2 Nights Get 1 Free and booked in for a mini holiday.
This is NOT camping, it’s Glamping and Glamavanning and Villa’s and Cabins and the entire place is designed for parents and kids to have the BEST TIME EVER!
We didn’t leave Treasure Island during the entire time of our stay and considering one of the Gold Coast’s best shopping experiences, Harbour Town and the theme parks are only minutes up the road that’s are real testament to the how great this place truly is.
Treasure Island is fantastic for Gold Coast and Brisbane families looking for a getaway close to home OR families coming to visit the Gold Coast for a holiday.
We were looking for a budget holiday with great kids activities, resort pools and an affordable restaurant and Treasure Island delivered. Actually it exceeded all our expectations.
Things to do at Treasure Island
Giant Bouncing Pillow
The Giant Bouncing Pillow was the scene of some crazy bouncing fun during our holiday. Positioned under huge shade sails, our kids bounced till they dropped.
Located right outside the Kids Club the Bouncing Pillow was also the perfect location for all the group games run by the Kids Club.
Opened all day and into the evening mum’s, dad’s and excited kids of all ages love the Bouncing Pillow.
Pirate Themed Waterpark
The new Pirate Themed WaterPark, Shipwreck Shores cost over $700,000 and based on how much fun my kids had playing in it for hours on end, I’d say it was worth every cent.
You’re definitely going to need to take lots of towels on this holiday cause your kids are going to want to get wet, ALOT!
I LOVE how the team at Treasure Island have thought of parents comfort as being as important as the kids having fun and around the waterpark there are rows of sun lounges so we can relax while the kids go crazy.
And for meal times there are plenty of permanent tables and chairs around the waterpark too, so you can either bring your own food OR order something yummy from the Bistro.
Ok, yes that is me in the photo, flying down the Waterslide.
I LOVE waterslides and pools so I was in heaven at Treasure Island.
There are THREE POOLS, the Resort Pool with a Waterslide, the Lagoon Pool with a Waterfall and the Riverside Pool.
All three pools are surrounded by lush, tropical gardens and lined with sun lounges.
We stayed at Treasure Island on the Mothers Day weekend this year and I spent most of the afternoon lazing in the sun while the kids had a fab time in the pool.
Go Carting is a favourite activity
The Buggies are the BEST!
Yes you have to hire the Buggies. Yes they are worth it.
When we visited Buggies Hire was $10 / hour but as NRMA members we got 50% off, so for $5 they were great value fun for my kids.
Our 9 year old, Charli was so happy when she won the Handball Tournament at the Kids Club and was presented with a voucher for free Buggie Hire. You would have thought she won the lotto.
FREE Kids Activity Program
I’ve mentioned the Kids Club a few times but have I explained how cool the Kids Club is and how great the team who run the Kids Club are?
The team are in one word, AWESOME and these professional, experienced kid wranglers will engage your kids in fun activities and craft projects.
Some of the activities have a fee, but we’re talking about only a few dollars and if you’re a NRMA, RACQ or BIG 4 member you can purchase all activities at 50% off. As an example, the chocolate making class was $6, but only $3 with our membership. Seriously, that’s great value.
Kids Club is not a child minding service, you are responsible for your kids. If there’re big enough you can leave them to have fun or you can stay to enjoy the activities too.
Check the Treasure Island website for current program details
There was some serious PGA action when my tribe played the pirate themed Mini Golf Course.
My family are very competitive and there are no allowances for age or size when playing a game of Mini Golf and this course was no exception.
Training Area for Healthy Guests
For all the healthy beasts and beauties there is a small Circuit Training Area for you to keep your gorgeous bodies in shape.
There were quite a few walkers, up early doing laps of the holiday park everyday so if your that way inclined you won’t be alone.
Every day I made sure I said good morning to everyone passing by on their morning walk while I sat on my ass sipping my Lipton Jiggler.
Hey, it was the Mothers Day weekend. Don’t judge!
One of the Spa’s
Heaven is having a Relaxing Spa with the sun gently caressing your face with not a child in sight.
Sound good? I found my hubby peacefully taking in the serenity in the spa one day while our kids were at a chocolate making class at the Kids Club.
There are 4 spa’s and they are all opened for extended hours and I can’t recommend enough, sneaking away in the evening to have a spa after the kids have gone to bed.

Accommodation at Treasure Island
Treasure Island has accommodation for every budget and size family.
We chose to Glamavan in our much loved family caravan but no matter what your accommodation requirements I guarantee Treasure Island has what you need.
This place is epic, just when we thought we’d seen the whole park we’d find another pocket of villa’s or cabins or tent sites or caravans.
I’m actually getting excited just talking about it, I LOVED Treasure Island.
The website is definitely the best place to check out all the accommodation options available, it’s easy to navigate and comprehensive.
Other things to do on the Gold Coast
We stayed at Treasure Island from Friday to Monday, had the best time and didn’t leave the park BUT if you’re looking for more, here are some suggestions:
- Dreamworld – My 3 youngest kids are 13, 9 and 8 and Dreamworld is their favourite theme park and as with it’s waterpark Whitewater World included at the park we can do rides and waterslides all at the one location.
- Movieworld – Have the best live shows, superhero’s and great rides
- Sea World – Famous for it’s world class marine life exhibits and interactive experiences
- Wet’nWild – Adrenaline water slides and rides, children’s aquatic playground and giant wave pool
Surfers Paradise Beach – Iconic beach located at the end of Cavill Avenue the heart of Surfers Paradise
Burleigh Heads Beach – One of my favourites on the Gold Coast with great cafes, shopping and nature walks
Aquasplash Southport – Get Out, Get Wet, Get Active! A challenging floating waterpark. Fun for all ages
Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Tallebudgera – Take a day trip to Tallebudgera. Stunning beach and waterways
For all the Hungry Tummy’s
On our first day we ordered a hamburger and chips for lunch from the Galleons Bistro at Treasure Island and it was super tasty and only $10. On our last night we enjoyed an Indian Buffet at the bistro for only $40 for 2 adults and 2 kids. Seriously this dinner was delish and so cheap. So if you don’t want to cook the bistro is very family friendly, good food and great value.
Staying in our caravan we take care of ourselves when it comes to meals and you can do the same if you’re staying in a cabin or villa but if you need to use the it, the communal kitchen is one of the best we’ve seen at a holiday park. There’s even a TV!
For Coffee Lovers
The staff at the Kiosk make a great coffee but the take away cup sizes are a little large for my liking.
The regular cappuccino is almost twice the size that I’d normally order, so I asked for my cup to be only half filled.
Funny considering I’m a cup half full kind of a girl!
Coffee is available daily from 7.30am. Perfect!
Best time to visit
Treasure Island is one of those places that’s fantastic all year round.
If your looking for great weather, it’s Queensland, beautiful one day and perfect the next.
If your looking for the best value book out of peak season, or mid week and always check out the HOT DEALS on the Treasure Island website to jag a bargain.
Our visit was the Mothers Day weekend in May and we booked in on the Stay 2 Nights Get 1 Night Free Deal.
I was so surprised to see how quiet it was during this time so we will definitely be back for Mothers Day next year.
